>>I still think there is some weight to the 3-1 split rumor.<<

How can there be? The proxy's already come out and said it's a two-fer.

From the proxy.
To amend the Company's Amended and Restated Certificate of Incorporation
to increase the number of shares of Common Stock, par value $.001 per
share, which the Company is authorized to issue from 300,000,000 shares
to 600,000,000 shares. Approval of this proposal will result in a
two-for-one split of the Company's Common Stock to be paid as a
dividend.

Eagleput, I think you are right about the shareholder meeting speeding up the run up to the stock split. If the markets stay flat to higher, the stock should have one awesome run.
I don't agree with you on the 3 for 1. Well they can always announce another split in the coming few months. For now it looks like a 2 for 1.

RE: "I still think there is some weight to the 3-1 split rumor."

Forget it. This is just loose BBS talk. Professionals don't work this way. The Board of Directors will do exactly what they said they would, and split the stock 2:1.

The number one reason they will do so is that professional investors don't like surprises. They like consistency.

Number two is that they aren't this impatient. The 2:1 split this year will leave room for another 2:1 split in the next two months. We've already gotten a lot of benefit from the split announcement, and will get a little more from the actual split. Changing it to 3:1 would not help much at all. But after the effects of this split have worn off, another split will give JDSU another boost.
