The WTO protest accomplished at least one thing. They guaranteed that child labor abuses and environmental destruction will continue unabated in the offending countries. By having its agenda interrupted, the WTO accomplished nothing that would lead to progress in these areas.

I read exactly nothing about any rioting mobs, and I have read a lot about what happened in Seattle. The only people causing any kind of trouble were the anarchists, who were definitely not part of the anti-WTO protests.
