Japan Fair Trade Watchdog Warns IDO
Over Price Fixing

TOKYO -- Japan's Fair Trade Commission issued a warning Thursday to
IDO Corp. after finding the Japanese mobile phone company had fixed retail
prices for its CDMAOne cellular phones in the Kanto Area around Tokyo,
local media reported.

The warning prompted IDO to rectify the allegedly unfair trading practice,
they reported. Officials at the commission could not be reached for
comment.

In a statement, IDO said it took the FTC warning seriously. "After carefully
considering the details of the warning, we will quickly decide how to deal
with it and will respond to the FTC," the company said.

According to a Japanese daily, IDO advised retail "guideline" prices for
CDMAOne cellular phones for sales agents in the Kanto Area. The
company allegedly warned the agents that if they failed to implement the
prices, the company would suspend shipments, the paper said.

Since IDO and the DDI Corp. (J.DDI or 9433) group launched Code
Division Multiple Access Services in April, the number of subscribers has
soared. The total number of CDMAOne subscribers topped the two million
mark by the end of August.

IDO offers CDMAOne services in the Kanto area and the Tohoku in
northern Japan, while DDI group companies offer coverage for all other
regions of Japan.
