According to Juniper CEO, they don't have competent rivals:

Kriens: The only other company that is in the Internet operating today is
Cisco (CSCO: news, msgs). Cisco has a product called the 12008, which
is the closest alternative product in the category.

There is a concept called the Internet classroom. The Internet classroom
relates to the fact that only when one operates within the Internet, does
one learn the lessons required to bring products of this type to market.
The dilemma for companies besides Juniper and Cisco not in the network
today is that it is very difficult to acquire the prerequisites necessary to
participate, and it's very difficult to participate without the prerequisites.

This Internet classroom, which is the only place one can learn the lessons
needed to respond to the challenges of the Internet, is today a classroom
with only two students. And [they are] Juniper and Cisco. The products
that each of the companies will bring to the market will continue to reflect
the learning of being present. The challenge for the third, fourth or other
companies that have yet to qualify for the class is what motivation for the
market and the customers have to what today are two very viable
solutions.

We believe that we will continue to see competition certainly from Cisco,
but competitors elsewhere will have a struggle getting into the classroom
and motivating the customers to take the energy to bridge the
chicken-and-egg problem of lacking the prerequisites.

Elsewhere, it is reported that inflated stock prices lead to inflated egos.
