Nikita, I am providing my commentary to the article you posted so you can hear the other point of view. YOu may find my comments offensive and overly sarcastic at times...I can live with the offensive (I guess) but I use sarcasm to make my point a little better. Please don't take them personal.

Before you jump all over me again...I am not prejudiced against Albanians (well maybe a little<g>). They can be very hard workers....in the US. In the Balkans the mob mentality takes over and the extremists are now clearly in power (just watch Rugova will not live much longer). YOu don't deal with extremists, you do what the Russians are doing to the Chechens now, you must terminate them whatever it takes. The Serbs had the KLA extremists run over and kicked out of Kosovo until all mighty Nato started bombing indiscriminately...Isn't it funny how we now say "we recognize how Russians must deal with terrorists, internal matter, blah blah" and we unleash hundreds of planes to bomb from 15,000 feet a country which was dealing with a much smaller terrorist threat????????? And then, you get Yeltsin, reminding everyone: "Dont' mess with us, we got lots of nukes still"------->Message: Get nukes and noone will bomb you-------> Result: Next century not looking good 2 me!

"As important as what we have learned is what we still do not know," said Assistant Secretary of State Harold Koh. "Five months after the U.N. and NATO arrived in Kosovo, we're still piecing together what is undeniably a widespread and systematic attempt to cleanse Kosovo of much of its Kosovar-Albanian population."

Oh yeah, now that it has become clear that all accusations of Serb crimes have been wildly exaggerated...we now conveniently get to the "what we still do not know" part...LOL...this is really pathetic...what happened to the 100,000 Albanian men missing and all these other wild numbers? Another able foreing policy diplomat getting a paycheck from all of us, I wonder where does Clinton find these guys?

>From March through June, an estimated 10,000 Albanians were killed, 1.5 million expelled from their homes, tens of thousands of homes in 1,200 cities damaged or destroyed and summary executions held at 500 sites across Kosovo, according to the report condemning Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic.

Hmm, we are now back up to the 10,000 number???? First, notice he said from "March through June"...Everything changed for generations to come once the humanitarian bombs started falling, EVERYTHING! What the hell did you expect some Serb soldiers to do? When they called home in Belgrade and Novi Sad they found out another bridge, another factory, school, electricity plant, water treatment plant got bombed???????This is hundreds of miles to the north man! Remember what we did to the Japanese in WWII? To be honest with you, the Serbs should have done to the Albanians what the Russians are doing to the Chechens...instead they escorted the civilians to safety and in the process killed a few hundred KLA bandits. Think about it, bombs are falling all over you, would you stay where you are or go somewhere where you will be fed, housed and, maybe, just maybe get a ticket the hell out of there!

>"This report is only a snapshot of the Milosevic regime's brutal,
premeditated and systematic campaign," said the report called "Ethnic
Cleansing in Kosovo: An Accounting."

Look who is talking? The people who are responsible for killing MORE people than ones killed from the day the KLA bandits (think about that too, all of a sudden, out of the blue, these hudlums got lots of weapons and some form of basic training) appeared as saviors of the Albanian people (haha, this is a good one).

>In a May report, the department had said at least 6,000 Kosovar Albanians were victims of mass murder, an unknown number died in individual killings, and an unknown number of bodies burned or destroyed by Serbian forces throughout the conflict.

LOL...this is getting even more pathetic...they are scrambling to come up with anything now...burning of bodies...those evil Serbs!

Thursday's follow-up report said it drew new information from accounts by refugees, the press and relief and other agencies working in Kosovo at the time, as well as declassified information from government and international organizations.

Oh boy, NEW information from refugees (I bet they are all Albanian of course), the press/relief/other agencies/....oh yes, yes....and the best one of all "declassified information from government and international organizations".........LOL

>"The evidence is also now clear that Serbian forces conducted a systematic campaign to burn or destroy bodies, or to bury the bodies, then rebury them to conceal evidence of Serbian crimes," the report said.

As clear as a bell!!Sometimes, I think that this Administration believes the crap they come out and serve to all of us!! (see 2/3 denuclearization, 1/3 democracy comment recently).

>Others internationally have offered the same estimate, but the new
100-page report provides in catalog-style the locations and details of 500 towns where atrocities occurred.

Why noone has offered to do a 100-page report for the atrocities commited by the KLA terrorists??????or the Croatians in Krajina?????or the Muslims in Bosnia???????Besides, atrocities in the Balkans is like turkey dinner on Thanksgiving day<g>

>The bulk of the report dealt with killings, but it also included information on 10 other human rights abuses - forced expulsion, burning, looting, detentions, use of people as human shields, summary executions, the digging up of mass graves, systematic rape, attacks on medical patients and clinics and what officials called the new category of identity cleansing.

I sense a degree of desperation in the part of the administration to justify what they did...but independent evidence (see British press, Stratfor, etc.) proves otherwise!

>Many Kosovar Albanians were stripped of their passports, car license plates, land titles and other documents.

Again, remember what we did to the Japanese...The Kosovo Albanians were Yugoslav citizens...they were boycotting anything resembling Yugoslav authority for a very long time in a systematic process to eventually declare INDEPENDENCE!!!!Now, their allies (Nato) was bombing the country they refused to be a part of, that to me is treason, and you know what we do here to traitors...the Albanians never pledged "allegiance to the flag", so now they were escorted to the countries they wanted to be citizens of...see Albania!

>Officials said the report is part of an international effort to provide a comprehensive look at atrocities in Kosovo before NATO troops arrived, provide some answers for families of people still missing and lay groundwork for trials of the perpetrators.

yada, yada, yada.

>The report follows one issued last week by the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, which said revenge-motivated violence has accelerated since NATO-led peacekeepers arrived in Kosovo following the air campaign against Milosevic's government.

What the idiots in the Nato countries don't get is a cultural lesson on Albanians. The MAIN characteristic of their society is built on revenge..YOu should try to get the October or November issue of the Details magazine, has a superb article on "lec", the unwritten law passed down by each generations...which mainly gives a right to someone to kill ANY relative of the perpetrator of a "crime" against a victim from his own family......this can happen even centuries (?????) later!!!!!!Truly bizzare, they say that only with the killing of someone from the perpetrator's family the victim can finally rest in his grave...horrific stuff... and you expect these people to be tolerant?????? Also, look what they have done to Albania? The only thing they built were bunkers to stop invaders. When communism fell, anarchy broke out...everyone carries guns, the most lucrative occupations is drug dealing and Mafiosi stuff...and, don't forget, Albania is the only country which collapsed from a pyramid scheme...Excuse me, but I can't feel sorry for people who fall from pyarmid schemes. I could go on and on...

>Such retribution has escalated in the last six months - the vast majority by ethnic Albanians seeking revenge against Serbs and other minorities.

It won't stop until all non Albanians are out AND independence is granted!
