George, I wish you would stop comparing Albanians and Chechens, the NATO operation and the Russian operation in Chechnya.

They have only the most superficial resemblance.

For starters, I suggest you take a trip to Belgrad (if you haven't already), and take a good long look at the city, as it is now. Then take a trip to Grozny, and take another long look. Then compare. And then tell me whether you see any resemblance.

Furthermore, do not forget that Chechnya has already been through a war. The estimates of the total number of people killed (civilians plus combatants on both sides) in that war vary all the way from a low of 30,000 to a high of 130,000. But even the lower number beats the estimated casualties from the bombings of Yugoslavia all to hell. Add to that the still "undetermined" casualties from THIS one, and you've got a scene, IMO, that makes the NATO operation (of which, incidentally, I did NOT approve) look like a birthday party...
