RDSL

10 December 1999

Globalstar (San Jose, CA) will launch satellite phone services
in the Middle East, Australia, S Africa and Russia between
February-May 2000, after launching services in Europe, S
Korea, China and the Americas by mid-February 2000,
according to Mac Jeffery, spokesperson.

The announcement confirms a report by Reuters. Six gateway
stations are currently in operation and will support the first
round of countries, with eight additional gateways scheduled
to come online shortly to support the 2nd group. Services to
other parts of the world will launch later in 2000 and in
early-2001.
