Excuse me, esteemed Thread Mother; once the rug has been produced "the damage has been done." All the greater shame if the labor's result is destroyed.

I must admit, I stopped buying Nike years ago, not because of labor issues, but because I walked into the store and saw a giant poster of Dennis Rodman or someone of that ilk -- I said to myself, part of this money's going to him - I don't think so.

In the case of rugs (and sneaks) I think people/leaders in countries of origin have a far greater responsibility than I, for the welfare of their citizens.

I don't mean to single you out on this next, but must ask if you think it appropriate to require service stations to display origin of the petroleum products that go into your car.

Would you refuse to drive or ride in any conveyance powered by fuel from the Mid East, where many, if not most, women are denied fundamental rights and often treated like crap?

Hope you are enjoying the evening, Christine. Have you ever mentioned what part of The City you call home? It is one of the world's magical places, in spite of, or, perhaps because of, being thoroughly screwed up.

Mike
