unclewest, can you ask your friend which tvs he saw the guide in. curious to see if it's in tvs other then rca.

sent your question..here is the response...let's give him another laugh. <ggg> <VBG> OTFL

had to laugh as I saw myself quoted on the Gand K thread..Loved
it! The set brands I saw were all Thompson originated with the exception of
the newest, biggest Sonys. The most interesting pitch was for the RCA
Proscan 50" projection TV, retailing for $1999. This is the set used in the
full color print ad (which I wish I could scan and send to you, but don't
yet have a scanner). It is a specific pitch product Circuit City is using
to get people into the store and then sell them up or down the product line.
My saleslady told me they leave the 50" set on in the middle of the display
set to the Guide+ most of the time. Then the salespeople take prospective
customers FOR ANY SET over to the big set and sort of nonchalantly flip
through the guide to find different programming to show them picture
quality, sound, etc. She says when the customers see the Guide in action
they often ask if it is on the set they are thinking about getting. If it is
not, she tries to encourage them to move up to a set which has it. About ten
models I saw had the Guide+, mostly RCA....and the biggest Sonys. Frankly, I
didn't do a real count, as I was fascinated by this demonstration of selling
expertise by the saleslady.
