OT Isn't Vioxx (and Celebra) a Cox-2 inhibitor? I have been told they're no more effective than aspirin or NSAIDS but that they have less side-effects. However, you are reporting that it takes away pain that the others couldn't?

I recall an article in the New Yorker saying something similar--when the drugs were still in clinical trials. I believe the writer had some type of very painful arthritis, and the Cox-2 inhibitor took it entirely away, which no other drug had done.

I'm curious about this, as theoretically the others are both Cox 1 and Cox 2 inhibitors, and its the Cox 1 that is "uncessary" and causes the side effects. Also, insurance companies may claim the Cox 2 are not necessary unless someone is already having side effects.

Thanx for the info--I write about this stuff sometimes

I heard Vioxx causes irreversable impotence in men *and women by design as to lower the incidence of birth defects. I heard Celebrex on the other hand makes one look and feel younger. ---disclaimer: I am long Monsanto. :) -JCJ
