this is old news but thought the commentary would be of interest.

(BUSINESS WIRE) - Ericsson and Microsoft to Form
Joint Company Microsoft
Corp. (MSFT, $92, down 1 ) and Ericsson (ERICY,
$64, up 5) today
announced a strategic partnership to develop and
market end-to-end
solutions for the wireless Internet, based on a
shared vision of
convenient and fast access to information
anytime, anywhere, from any
device. Ericsson and Microsoft will form a joint
company to market and
deliver mobile e-mail solutions for network
operators. Ericsson will own
the majority share of the new company.

COMMENT: This is a good move for Microsoft. We
still prefer Nokia over
Ericsson, and we see no reason to budge on that.
Still, the joint company
being formed will be a powerful force in wireless
solutions and
innovations. Microsoft is a juggernaut that some
investors may not be
riding, but none should be foolish enough to be
caught standing in front
of.

What rut? I've been holding MSFT longer than July 19th 1991.
Perhaps you are just short sighted <ggg>.

Pun intended

Hardy: My tracks in the MSFT road predate Malloy's by 2 years.

You are right about AOL. After making a ton on it in the last year I sold it and bought back in at 90 but alas had to abandon it at 86 in a big downdraft when I got close to my margin limits on one of those dreadfully dark days this fall. It has now doubled since that fateful day. Missed profits=180,000.

But you can't kiss them all. MSFT is the bank that I borrow from and with a cost basis of 4-7
I can afford to wait until I see it afflicted with some terminal disease. I don't believe Linux, thin client or DOJ is anything but a ripple under the bow of this juggernaut.JFD
