That was a fabulous dissertation JBE...Just a few comments..A great propaganda effort was made to tail Kosovo situation to the Istambul declaration, except it was a week and unconvincing case that Kosovo situation was a threat to the stability of neighboring states..It is now for sure..Chechnya strictly speaking is a threat to the stability of Russia, except China has more rights on Tibet than Russia on Chechnya...Russia has more rights on Alaska than it does on Chechnya....<gg> Russia has more rights on Azerbaidgan than Chechnya.. As for the point at discussion...West put a blind eye to a lot of situations far worse than Chechnya (Sudan, Rwanda are just recent examples)....and yes Turkey tactics against Kurds for years were no less different than Milosevic in Kosovo...

PS. I was not saying that Russia is Sudan...What I was saying that Clinton/Blair has created an extremely dangerous precedent....and Russia will take a full advantage of this situation....(I bet you voted for Clinton twice..<gg>) NATO has smart weapons, but is lacking at the moment smart politicians.... Russia and others would take advantage of our unthinkable stupidity as we are mired in the Balkans-that is for sure... As for Grozny unlike Pristina, nothing to worry about all -we have been assured that civilians are living and who is to contradict? :( infoseek.go.com
