Geez must I correct EVERYBODY around here? It was NOT radioactive mud. It was a crashed spaceship from millions of years ago containing the remains of long extinct martians who resembled 5-ft tall grasshoppers.

These beings were superior intellectually and they created a few super-humans to breed among the rest of us mere mortals and the lucky few humans today who are descendants posess kinetic powers.
