Slightly off-topic networking question for the experts here:

I have a cable modem connected to an ethernet card in my personal pc. I now want to connect my work laptop, which is also equipped with an ethernet pc card, so both computers can share the cable modem. I have a static ip address assigned from my cable modem provider for my personal pc. My personal pc is running windows 95, my work pc is running windows 98. I also need to run microsoft vpn to connect to my work extranet.

What is the best way to network these two pcs so they can both share the cable modem? I have theories about placing another nic in the personal pc, or using winproxy and buying a little ethernet hub.

Any complete answers to solve this networking mystery would be most appreciated! Thanks in advnace.

Hal

I would still like to read Netscape e-mail on any drive in the
original format. Are there any utilities that would allow this.

Would installing a second version of Netscape on the second drive work?

I recently copied the inbox in Netscape 4.7 to another computer with Netscape 4.7. The mail was available in its original form.

Perhaps an older version of Netscape can read the inbox. Maybe you could install Netscape 3.0 on the second drive and then copy the inbox (actually I copied a couple of folders from the inbox).

Caveat..installing a second Netscape may intermix the two Netscapes..especially if the two versions are newer versions. I would make a backup copy of your harddrive before trying this.

EDIT Correction. The folders are under Local mail one of them being the inbox..I do not think they are true folders but you can still copy them.

Sorry George, I can't offer any good suggestions, only bad ones. I use Eudora for my e-mail.

Archiving e-mail:

Wanted to get back with a response I got from the Netscape Communicator newsgroup on the issue of archiving e-mail. My initial question was whether or not there is a way to read archived e-mails in a different file or drive than "Local Mail" with Netscape:

There apparently is no way to do this. This used to be supported in older versions of Netscape, but not anymore. There are no known utilities that allow this. Can it be done with IE?

I don't know why they would eliminate this capability.
