As per this link to AMD resellers update, AMD offering $30 rebates for Athlon + compatible mother board combo. Also, there is a mention of FIC mobo temporary price reduction (which has already been observed at Price Watch and was posted here).

Take your pick. Based on the number of Athlon SKUs out there I wouldn't at all be surprised if it is "b". The alternative is that Compaq and IBM are selling a boatload of Athlons on a direct basis.

If there is no updated guidance from AMD in the next week or two, "b" becomes a higher probability event.

Chuck
