o/t
if you buy on net and business is located in your state..you have to pay sales taxes..
ie that is why I am curious re walmart since they own stores in practically every state..
also many of us are looking for infrastructure plays.. optic fiber,dvd,database,linux,etc..and ignoring the bubbling stocks
again a lot of small businesses and middle men are going to be killed..
California for instance is quite pro no sales tax..since they can tax the profits on all their high tech companies..but I don't know who
wants an amazon..or some others..because what is there to tax?

OT: one should never underestimate the desire to tax

Well, taxes are a necessary evil and I don't mind paying my fair share so long as it helps to provide the national and local infrastructure that I expect.

It is not so much the idea of a tax itself, but the method in which that tax is assessed that is the issue. Personally, the sales tax should exempt food, drugs, and other "staples". One should not be taxed on the things they HAVE TO HAVE to survive. The question is how to decide what is a staple, and what is a luxury.

I'm more into either a flat income tax, or just institute a 1/2 to 1% trade tax on every non-food sales transaction...

And of course, cut back on govt subsidization of large corporations. If your going to provide relief to anyone, provide it to the small guy who is most affected by the broad changes in the economy and needs help to transition or change.

Regards,

Ron
