And for those corporate SEC literate.....Do they have to do this if they wanted to pay for a handset division by shares rahter than cash? Are they consolidating to make sure that the number of shares outstanding are less so that after they pay out cash for the initial payment they can still maintain the EPS numbers?

Why would they go to the expense of having an EMERGENCY shareholders meeting to just make these mudane moves? It does not make sense....<ggg>

(I can tell you that I have been following the job markets in San Diego and Nokia is hiring like you wouldn;t believe. They have more than 40 open positions for antenna engineers, DSP engineers, ASIc engineers, RF engineers, Phone design engineers, etc. This all started up about 2 months ago and has been building ever since..)

This is such odd news...do you (or does anyone) know what it means to the company? Doesnt seem to add or retire debt, doesnt seem to lessen the shares out to shareholders, not sure what it means or what the purpose is...????
