I wonder if the fall in stock price was due to Mort Topfer's not so imminent departure????

Vanderslice looks like the perfect hire...

john....not stating it is the entire solution

but it can be a rapid fix to how the street views dell. share price is extremely important even in the day to day operation of the business, and i'm sure you know why.

my concern is going forward, perhaps if an economic downturn happened, how will it affect the delicate balance of the dell model. this concern is not based on "what if", but living through the cascading domino effect that brought the economy of a whole country down. boasts of china as the second largest market is not guaranteed, as their exists now and always political, commercial, social issues under the current ideology. industrialists much greater then dell could not over come investment in a less then free market.

dell speaks of growing revenues in the area of service, but this is not in house capability.

the larger the "perfect" model grows, the less in control of their own fate. proof of this has reared it's ugly head over the last quarter. the growth of dell going forward is dependent on the health of the down stream supply chain. you can't replace a strongly forged link that has failed with one of lesser inherent strength...

just an opinion, based on actual happenings...just look to the east

thanks, as always..ed a.
