You have to realize here that I have an allergy to metals- I cannot even have my ears pierced. I can wear clips, and other jewelry as long as it is not necessary to pass it through my body. I prefer the human body un-mutilated. I know body ornamentation has been with the human species since forever- but I don't like it when it becomes permanent- it's a personal creep out.

Why have you tempted me, Joan?

The important thing is that your daughter-in-law is a good person and that you and your son (esp. your son!) have a loving relationship.

On nose thingies -- why would a person call attention to this often not-so-great looking part of the body? If it's one of the few great noses, why screw with it?

On tattoo art -- we can improve on nature's (God's, if you wish) most beautiful design by adding a permanent "bumper sticker"? Would you "blemish" a Mercedes, an oriental carpet, a fine piece of furniture in such a way?

Aside from the trendiness, I don't get the tattoo thing at all.
