On-Line Credit Card Fraud

All AMZN,

Interesting article......E-Tailers being defrauded for huge sums.

zdnet.com

I just read the article regarding e-tailers being defrauded and was amazed at how much real information is not in the article.

I run a small "mom and pop" e-commerce site. I have a seperate charge card processing contract for transactions on this site. It is really quite safe and makes a lot of sense.

The product must be shipped to the address of the cardholder which is compared and approved by the card processing company. For items costing $2K or more, the issuing card company has to contact the cardholder to verify pertinent information. I cannot ship to an address that is not that of the cardholder without the issuing insitution making verification.

If I follow all these rules, I am not responsible for fraudulent purchases. The issuing card company is. Please note that my software verifies the shipping address with the card holder's address automatically so for the majority of purchases there is no more work than a sale in the regular store.

The processing company receives .5% more for online sales. What is the problem??
