"Excite@Home Poised to Offer Free Dial-up Service"

Wow Educator, if this is true, I may be inclined to sell my ATHM...reminds me of that Jerry McGuire line..."Where's the money?"

Educator, free dialup access - haven't we been there already with MSFT leading the way and ending up raising their rates eventually to match that of AOL?

Actually it makes no impact in my opinion. I think it is great for CMGI. Just because Excite@Home becomes another name in the litany of Free Dial-up Service providers, you are not postulating that the country is going to run to ATHM? What will ATHM's free service offer that other providers of free service do not have? If anything one of the dings on ATHM has been its lack of content anyway.

One must also look at terms like value, and if you don't understand the difference between price or the lack there of and value as expressed by a customer than it makes no sense for us even to have a discussion.
