Mike: Your analysis re Citrix is very helpful and perceptive as it usually is. The distinctions are fine ones, but accurate from my observation of the company.

Citrix is very very strong in what it does. The company is also doing its best to be alive without the MSFT umbrella. All the moves in the past two or three years have been toward freedom so to speak. But it is not yet completely free IMO.

Thanks.

CTXS
(Disclaimer: I own shares of CTXS)

reWhich is stronger, a dominating, enabling chimp or a gorilla in an aps space?

Well the chimp MIGHT be more profitable but could give a HUGE disappointment if the niche suddenly disappears: the gorilla in the aps space might be more "secure" whatever that means.
Incidentally: as a fairly naive (but very successful) investor, I want to tell one of the strongest and most wonderful reasons for gorilla investing.
Market corrections no longer concern me. News concerns me but not "corrections" (I still dont think corrections are necessarily correct). And if you saw my posts a year and a few months ago you would know I am definitely subject to emotional excesses and WAS subject to emotional investing.
Happy Wednesday to all.

Mike

Citrix is the dominating, enabling chimp in a niche market

Even though it is an enabler, and maybe on the verge of
breaking out into a tornado, I don't see value chains
forming (downstream) around its technology.

Will this render it game for only a mere Kingdom ?
