I'm about in the middle! A great book - theres so much I forgot from 10 years ago. I have never read fountainhead and thanks for the tip on the film. I will read the book though before I see the movie.

One thing about Atlas that I think is great is the female character, obviously a woman writer so you have a very developed female character. I have found women can write men well (it seems like) but lots of books written by men are real wash-outs when it comes to the women.

My favorite example was some of Clavells books - the last one I read was about a helicopter company in Iran... all the women were always taking bubble baths and worrying about their breasts or babies. Theres that string of religous books ("left behind"), which of course I am not going to read but this book club around here wrote a little blurb about it - there are tons of men in these books and two women, one of which is a bit of a dummy and the other an independent, unmarried, bitchy-type. Total stereotypes right down the line.
