From what I've read cdma is the rage in Japan, and it's ability to handle voice is far beyond PHS's. If you're going to build a wireless video conferencing system, why not put it on the most advanced platform?

I've been in fixed station teleconferences, and presume they were at 56KBaud. They were adequate, but not good video <herky jerky>. Is there some technical reason why a higher data rate wouldn't be advantageous?
