Blah, blah, blah, research is bunk, you guys all know better. Who's using litigator's tactics here, Neocon? Where's the research from the other side? Did you ever find those "few studies suggest that when used appropriately, spanking makes small children less likely to fight with others and more likely to obey their parents"? Just wondering.

<<I am comfortable with opining in favor of moderate corporal punishment, pending further research, while deploring actual abuse....>>

There's the rub. Opinions are like belly buttons, everyone has one. I bet the answers on what constitutes abuse would be as wide spread as the question of how many drinks are too many.

One of the major flaws in most studies is darn few are ever done to find something out. Most researchers have an agenda and will twist, turn and ferret out data to prove their point. I'd bet both the NRA and Sarah Brady have studies on handguns in the home, both done by "experts" and way far apart on conclusions.

That's pretty good behavioral science methodology, Neocon, but it weakens at the end. The USN articles struck me as nothing like a meta analysis, but like weak journalism. I know nothing about the author, but she claimed no scientific credentials, did she? I don't think your conclusion is scientifically justified, although, obviously, there is still a real dispute.
