I guess this brings our canonical spanking example count up to 3, running into the street, going for a pot of boiling water, and the electrical outlet. I never quite understood the electrical outlet thing either, totally aside from the readily available plug protectors. Maybe some kids have really skinny fingers, but I've never seen an outlet anybody could stick their finger into. You could stick a screwdriver into one, of course, or something else, but taking a tool away would seem to suffice.

I was one of those. I got several scoldings. One day my mother was distracted and I stuck a bobby pin in an outlet. Never had to scold me again on that behavior.
