I am not so sure that those were mistakes. One
can take it other way: the guy was talking
about FACTS, from investor/consumer perspective,
not about paper "introductions" of non-working
chipsets and boards, in insignificant quantities.

Same goes for 0.25um parts: the majority of
processors and systems on the market are
still 0.25 Celerons and 0.25 Pentiums-2/2.5...

Just check out pricewatch.com

You will find out that 0.25um 600MHz parts are
selling / stocked at 112 resellers,
while 600-700 0.18 parts can be barely
found at 23-25 locations only. This is
a 4:1 ratio. It would be interesting
to check the number of stocked parts;
there might be additional correction to
this ratio.

As you mentioned, Athlons are also not made in
Sunnyvale. Therefore the metaphor is apparent
in the whole article. And the Intel sales are
probably a good ballpark estimate. No need
to pick nits as Intel employees were fast at.
