American Spirit;
<<Finally DD stocks should start rallying on MXTR great news:Maxtor Fourth Quarter Results to be Significantly Better Than Previously Expected>>

Yes, Maxtor spilled the beans about the worst kept secret in the industry and that is that Q4 has been a brilliant quarter. Investors have apparently just caught on, even after Maxtor's much ballyhooed price increases, and much comment throughout the industry regarding how well the quarter was shaping up. But who benefits?
MXTR +1.72%
SEG +9.65%

That is because even investors who have ignored the indicators so far know that in the desktop sector for now, SEG is once again the 800 lb. gorilla. If MXTR signals a strong qtr then surely SEG will have a stronger one...right?

Maybe the question now is sustainability. If history is a lesson we are experiencing our "normal" seasonal strength. What happens after the Q? Some say that as soon as the Y2K kick-off occurs there will be a flood of freeze dried food stuffs and 6 Gb disk drives on the market. This may be true but is there some pent up corporate buying in the wings? Remember, several corporations have taken a holiday from buying to allow Y2K to come and go. Will we segue directly into a corporate buying binge? And if we do which company will benefit the most? You guys probably know my pick.

Robert, who says SEG isn't a momentum stock? Or should I be taking some profits?

One thing for sure, the tax man suggests holding, at least for a couple more weeks. :)

Best,
Stitch
