Apparently attorneys have been sending e-mail without the benefit of ZixMail(gasp). Ya gotta love the timing-"Security Concerns Wane" as ZixMail is released:prnewswire.com Survey Reveals Significant Increase in E-mail Use Versus One Year Ago;Security Concerns Wane MENLO PARK, Calif., Dec. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Trepidation about using e-mail seems to be fading among lawyers, suggests a new survey. According to the poll, 68 percent of attorneys are sending electronic messages to clients at least daily, and more than half (56 percent) say they are willing to include sensitive information in e-mail messages. These findings compare to results from a 1998 attorney survey in which 42 percent of respondents said they communicated with clients at least daily via e-mail, yet three out of five were unwilling to send confidential information. The surveys were developed by The Affiliates, a leading staffing service specializing in project attorneys and legal support personnel. They were conducted by an independent research firm and include responses from 200 attorneys among the nation's 1,200 largest law firms. Attorneys were asked, "How often do attorneys in your office communicate with clients via e-mail?" Call added, "Clients appreciate e-mail reports because they are immediate and informative, yet do not require as many resources to produce as do formal written memos. Attorneys are able to update clients, while leaving more time for key cases and projects."
