Petz,

I didn't find th EETimes article revealed anything new because we knew they demoed the 900 MHz at Comdex. The most positive thing is the last line:

Ooops - I took Kash's line "AMD demonstrates 900 MHz chips and perhaps they will announce they are shipping samples to customers soon" as headline part of the article. I didn't realize that was Kash's comment :-( Now it all makes sense to me because I was wondering why other message boards didn't pick up that line from the article. Thanks for the link and for sharing your thoughts regarding the AMD options.

Regards,
Goutama

Petz,

I just checked Gateway site for any new documents related to Athlons. Guess what - they removed all the documents containing references to Athlon ;o(

John,

AMD Athlon 750 MHz machines are on sale right now on the shopping channel. If you have Warner Brothers as your cable provider it is on channel 3. Right now they are showing an Interview with some AMD dude, of course all he said was Athlon is the fastest possible CPU available.

Last weekend they were selling the K6-2 533 MHz. The number of unit sold the last time I looked was +27,000. They did say that they were the only one who had it available for delivery before Christmas.

Mani

Edit later: Now they are showing benchmarks, they compare the 700 Athlon to PIII 733, guess who is faaaaar ahead. I now, what benchmark were they showing? I don't think that anyone who shops for computer on TV really cares.

what about this petz :

"The deal with Motorola will help AMD re-deploy its Fab-25 in Austin, Tex., which AMD is looking to use to manufacture chipsets for Via Technologies, and also manufacture flash memory chips"

forbes.com

So, that might be a cynical situation...:)
Via will fab chipsets in fab25, who knows of those are also going to be p6 chipsets haha
helping Intel out in the harsh times..shouldnt AMD get some kind of funding for that?:)

michael.

<the EE Times article is mildly positive, but probably not enough to push AMD much past 30. There's a huge open interest of Dec 30 calls, most of them probably held by speculators>

Just took a quick look at I-watch and don't see much institutional volume other than some folks with a big sell sign at 30. So, the volume today could also because of unwinding of option players (mostly people with in-the-money calls selling and closing their positions). If this continues and if there is no news then the option unwinding could lead to a soft open on Monday (brokerages exercising in the money calls for their clients creating selling pressure at open) .
