Does that mean that Nortel paid too much ?

No. Just means that Nortel, as the leader in optical networking, could afford to pay more for a company with new optical technology.

No, it means that Qtera mgmt is heavily Ex-Nortel employees who probably likes working with Roth and respect Nortel's ability to take their nascent product into the market far better than Cisco can.

Why try to put a stupid spin when Cisco lost?

Face reality and as one poster suggested, look at the NT price appreciation relative to Cisco's in the past year and see what the rest of the world thinks about Cisco's future outlook.
