With Cisco's existing business model I don't think that they need to buy any of the "Big" suppliers".

The technology working here especially in Photons is changing rapidly. There are many more companies than LU, NT that pose a very serious threat going forward.

Intergrating the good ones going forward will do a lot to determining success.

But number on on the plate has to be excellent management!

I used to love 3Com and thought the most of Eric B. especially his engineering background, but he is not up to the management task.

The one thing going forward that is good for Cisco, LU and NT is the growing size of this market. All will profit handsomely. Who will be the biggest in the end is still unclear.

Some people want to bash others on who will win. I frankly don't care
for people who can't carry a constructive conversation.

After all everything you see here on SI is "Opinion", even from all those brokerage analysts who claim to know what they are talking about.

I enjoy Mr. Fun's comments. While there is money to be made building long haul fiber networks that don't repeat I just don't see the money to be made there with so many getting into the business.

Where the real money will be made is mutiplexing off of fiber into WAN LAN environments. Maintaining speed and bandwidth at this critical juncture will really open up the pipes for all of us.
