"The Bible tells us to confess our faults one to another not our SINS..." It's not just Rome! Different versions of the bible use the same incorrect "sins" for "faults". You bring up a very good point. I have had christians tell me their sins even when I've asked them not to in order, I guess, to relieve their guilt. What they fail to understand is that not every christian can handle the details (nor should he be). There have been times, I have actually been tempted to sin in like manner after someone unloaded his "sin" on me. As christians we need to be discerning as to "what" and to "whom" we confess anything. It is one thing for instance to ask someone to pray for you because you have a weakness in lust. It is quite another to go into detail as to how you have failed God. To Him and Him alone should the confession go. As to Rome...Sigh, when will people REALLY look to JUST Jesus as the Author and Finisher of their faith? There is so much power in this one line. All these "added ons" by the Catholic church as well as the many "extras" the Pentecostals, Baptists etc. cause much more harm than good. May God grant his people the grace to keep His gospel simple.

I most certainly would not make any confessions as required by Rome. I can not understand anyone thinking that another human being is necessary as a middle man to convey one's sins on to God. It is obvious to me that God can and will understand exactly what I have to say using any words in any language. Latin is certainly not a prerequisite. My faults I have told to several people and especially I have made amends to those I hurt wherever possible. I can only wish that those that have died could have been able to hear me. I can assure you that my life contained no void before I was saved. That was the problem. My life was very full of all the wrong things.(notice no smiley face) There was nothing funny about it. The only way God could have saved me was in spite of myself. Probably I should have but I did not go looking for Him. It is my opinion that God had to go out of His way to save me which makes me all the more grateful for His grace.
