OT: Has anyone heard about a law that is coming up for vote in a few weeks to charge people .05 for sending each piece of e-mail? I just got a forwarded message (via e-mail) from one of my cousins telling people about the proposed law then requesting people to lodge their complaints to an address somewhere in our gov't [I didn't look closely]?

I am not posting the whole thing here because I have not heard of any law to charge for e-mail sent and do not know if this is just something to get people all worked up over nothing.

From my skim, I take it the USPS is complaining about losing billions in revenues due to e-mail replacing regular mail. Personally, I do not believe this. Even if some people are writing less personal letters, I should think auction sites such as eBay are bringing the USPS lots of _new_ revenues given most people who sell stuff via eBay send things USPS priority. Also, many people are writing less letters now that the phone rates are so cheap.
