Diminish? Yes. Relatively. I am convinced that I am fairly content with the life I have lived, and what I have taken from it. This is from my own point of view. I live like a frond, existing, and not minding it, even, sometimes, enjoying it. Seldom, however, tasting its bliss. It's awe, sure. Its bliss, not often. penni's opera experience is so NOTABLE! I mean it's so goddamned right and wonderful and inspired and culturally correct. There's no argument here. It is magnificent. And, in a twisted way, I envy her for it. Yet, I have NEVER taken to opera. I even, at a very young age, put the glories of staged shows, Broadway and opera and symphonies, behind movies in terms of my aesthetic, visceral rewards. I used to see more than one movie a week. (Have only seen two in the past four years.) And, if you did it on a poll, I would be the goober here. Another story I told on this thread, at an earlier time, had to do with saying to a deb at a penthouse party (not the magazine), "What a waste of money and effort!" (She had, uninvited, sat at the table where I was drinking Scotch. Immediately, she got up, un-picking-me-up, and informed that she was having a 'marvelous' time.) When I sit in the stands and see what the show is producing, I am glad, too often, to be in the stands. (A most recent exchange on a most similar subject just took place with Christine - about swimming, or dipping my toes into - her stream. You are making me comfortable. There are others, also. Charley, the rabid rightwinger, is a gas! But, I don't know... Operas, it can't be denied, are great , but I'd rather listen to 104.3FM or such.) The complication in this whole complication is that you, from what I have seen of you, are a 'culture' mogul. And you must have to stoop to pigeon english to converse with me. To be careful that you don't get into areas in which my capacities are (there's a great word meaning a mixture of negated and eliminated, not carrying the full strength of either, but being a happy, sad, mixture). Respects, geo
