Carolyn, here's a thought on the mysterious paper. Why was she carrying the paper in her hand, as opposed to pocket? She had jeans on so we can assume she had pockets. Most likely since Peter Stein didn't see her carrying keys she had them in her pocket.

Wouldn't this imply one of three things: a) she was actively using the paper, say, for directions, b) she had just picked it up and had been reading it while walking, or c) it wouldn't fit in her pocket. As for "a", we could make the argument that she might have been meeting someone for the first time and needed directions. However, I'd think she'd have had those directions in her pocket and most likely pulled them out after dropping off the keys and walking out of Phelps Gate. As for "c", Peter Stein was quite sure Suzanne didn't have a magazine, and said if there were more than one paper in her hand he couldn't tell, implying only a few pages which therefore most likely could have been folded. This makes "b" the most likely choice. If so, it also implies she probably picked up a flyer somewhere and was reading it. Perhaps she was just out for a stroll on this unusually warm night and was just going to play it by ear, i.e. if something struck her fancy she'd pursue it and, if not, she'd just go back home and get some sleep.

Does this make sense to you?
