John,
So you busted my chops about the availability of 800Mhz Floppermines...
Perhaps this will drive home the point that Mary and I are making. Intel is scrambling and they have even sucked Dell and Gateway into the black hole...

I ordered Dell Dimension XPS B800r system yesterday.

Here is the quote from the order confirmation I just received:

<Thank you for your internet order! Here is some important information
relating to your order that should be used in any future communications with
Dell:

Your Dell customer # is: XXXXXXXX

Your order number is: XXXXXXXX

We estimate that your order should ship on or before: 02/07/00>

So you order on the first day of availability and your ship date is 7 weeks away. Dell is becoming a joke, just as the big brother Intel.

The demand must be really strong, right Pboy? I guess one million elves got in front of me yesterday.

Kap....

-------
A Dell 800 Mhz Floppermine ordered today WON'T ARRIVE UNTIL 2/7/00!
I suppose Gateways will come next week? These annoucements that are warping your brain are a joke. <G>
Wake up John, Intel is Scramblin'! No need to apologize for bustin' me chops.

Jim

John,

Re: When the 800MHz chip is paired with Intel's 820 chip set and Rambus memory, users should expect to pay between $2,500 and $3,000 for their PC with a monitor.

$3k is what I paid for my 450PII(from Gateway) and 19" monitor(from Fry's) one year and 3 months ago.
