Deja vu all over again - 3COM laid its quarterly egg:

Sales of modems and adapter cards fell 14%. Sales of computer-networking equipment for businesses fell 12% from a year earlier, suggesting that 3Com is losing more ground to market leader Cisco Systems Inc. Operating profit for the division fell to $6 million, or 1% of sales. Christopher Stix, an analyst for SG Cowen, called the results "shockingly bad."

Oh yes, I see that they see:

While Roth's own words led us to think that way, we were struck by what the other CEOs had to say about Nortel: virtually nothing. We got the feeling that though Cisco and Lucent see Nortel as a competitor today, they see that company in the rear-view mirror in the not-so-distant future.

We have a hard time disagreeing with Cisco and Lucent.
