I suppose a lot of it is in one's point of view. Those same countries might look at the computing situation in the U.S. and conclude they'd be better off skipping the "PC" era and going straight to the the next level -- network-centric computing, in which companies like IBM and Sun have an edge.

To amplify the importance of India as an emerging MSFT market, the Indian middle class is approximately the size of the total US population.

India will be at least as important a market as China in the 21st century. Support for Hindi and Tamil in W2K can only benefit MSFT in this market.
