Has anybody seen yet where he is going? If it's clearly an opportunity for him, I don't think there will (or should) be much reaction. However, if it looks like he's trying to escape from something, "slammed" might prove to be an appropriate word.

JMHO.

Any pullback will be short lived and is a buying opportunity

The measure of great companies is the depth of their management. Maffei was an important contributor but companies like MSFT have an incredibly deep "bench" and I'm sure Conners will do just fine as CFO. Similar misplaced nervousness prevailed when Maffei replaced Brown a few years ago. I'm sure someone made Maffei a CEO offer he couldn't refuse. It's just part of business and is no big deal.
