Good post. I own NOK in addition to QCOM. I will probably dump NOK. Interesting piece early this AM about 5 minutes after midnight on thestret.com...raises ongoing concern with regard to NOK's fumbling of CDMA...will they keep up to speed with data as opposed to voice part of the equation???I have my doubts. Will the mighty Kyocera/QCOM combination blow NOK out of the water...as a shareholder of NOK I am concerned. Will this be NOK's achilles heel?? I really don't care about ancient history - the question is front and center how competitive will NOK be going forward...this is my concern. I know that everyone including all of the big houses love NOK but is the story getting old??I wonder. I also agree with other posters that in a dogfight give me the Asian contingent and not the Northern Europeans. I bet unless they make nice with QCOM that ERICY and NOK may get a very rude wake up call from the land of the rising sun and the home of the best zoo on the planet. Everyone keep up the great posts.

Steve

Nokia may not be total toast, but the preoccupation with Nokia's market cap and as THE best known European thingie...now that is SILLY. Size does NOT mean future success. Remember Data General?

And unless Nokia and Europe does get their act together, they are going to have some major problems joining the 21st century.

Nokia is a very hard working and persistent company. Don't count them out. A few months back, the #1 Amazon book ordered by Nokia employees was a book on 3G CDMA-based design, the #1 book ordered by Q employees was "The millionaire next door." Since then, Nokia asked to be removed from Amazon's purchase circle list and is no longer on the list. Q is still there, and the #1 Q employee book now is one on high speed networks. It's an interesting way to find out what's hot within a company. I am surprised Q hasn't yet asked Amazon to remove it from its purchase circle list. If there is a Q employee reading this, I suggest they talk to their management about it.
