Cheryl, Runner, Jim, Flats,

Good to see the old stalwarts hanging tough. Cheryl, particularly pleased that you are alive and well.

This morning I did my mini hedge. Most of my money is in a government money market fund, although I have been cherry picking in this tech bubble. Today I hope to close out the last of these positions. Today I purchased a small number of Leap Puts. Specifically: LSZ AE-E These are the Reduced Value Dec 2000 puts at 105. Well out of the money. Traded on the CBOE at $2. The multiplier is 100. So I am prepared for a gap down from these levels. If the market rushes upward, I will buy QQQ the Nasdaq 100 index, and prepare mentally to write off the puts. Although if the market comes to its senses and does a fine decline say in May, I may be still be able to profit.

I hope we all prosper this coming year. I'll be thinking of you all as we entertain two neighbor couples here New Year's eve and watch the rotation of 01/01/2000 through the time zones. That party will be the end of real food. I am determined to begin utilizing our Spam on the First. <GGG>

Live long and prosper!

Bill
