You make interesting points. I think the problem, however, is locating stocks that are worthy to hold for six months, a year, or whatever while they do nothing and possibly drop 50, 60 or 70% below where you thought a bottom was, all in the hope that one day there will be noteworthy news. Some of these companies can go out of business you know.

Could today's rally be nothing more than window dressing. . .to SAY we made Nasdaq 4000 before Christmas??? . . . to add that extra spike in the ol'nog?

No other reason seems to make sense to me.
