TOKYO, Dec 24 (Reuters) - The following stocks are on the move on Friday.

(The market was closed on Thursday for a national holiday)

0556 GMT - Kyocera Corp bid-only at 19,350, against Wednesday's closing price of 17,350, after Merrill Lynch raised its target price for the world's largest maker of integrated circuit ceramic packages to 22,300 yen from 18,500.

The change in the target price came after U.S. mobile phone technology developer Qualcomm Corp (NasdaqNM:QCOM - news) said it had sold its unprofitable handset unit to Kyocera.

0451 GMT - Hikari Tsushin Inc up by 20,000 yen or 11.49 percent at 194,000, exceeding a previous lifetime high of 184,000, after Liquid Audio Japan , in which Hikari Tsushin holds a 10 percent stake, was first traded at 6.1 million yen in the morning session on the new Mothers market.

The level compares with its initial public offering price of three million yen.

Hikari Tsushin is Japan's largest mobile phone subscription agency.

0419 GMT - Softbank Corp up by its daily limit of 5,000 yen or 6.87 percent at 77,800 after the major Internet investor said it will hold a news conference at 4:00 p.m. (0700 GMT) on the establishment of Nasdaq Japan.

0121 GMT - Sharp Corp up 170 yen or 7.33 percent at 2,490, surpassing a previous lifetime high of 2,400.

Investors were attracted to the major electronics manufacturer in light of brisk demand for liquid crystal displays and flash memories -- Sharp's specialities, analysts said.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Japanese business daily Nihon Keizai Shimbun said the deal would be worth more than one billion dollars.

Currency conversion seems to vary with the time and the market. I usually use the Forex quote posted at the nikkei Net site (102.58 Yen/$ as of 5pm on 12/24 in Tokyo), but I sometimes use the information posted by Yahoo US (102.91 Yen/$) whoever they use. In any case, Japan seems to be ahead of the rest of the World as of right now and I anticipate that the US price should leapfrog over the Japanese price before the end of the year. (according to the other tax non-selling theory). Perhaps a new year end high?
