(The market was closed on Thursday for a national holiday) 0556 GMT - Kyocera Corp bid-only at 19,350, against Wednesday's closing price of 17,350, after Merrill Lynch raised its target price for the world's largest maker of integrated circuit ceramic packages to 22,300 yen from 18,500. The change in the target price came after U.S. mobile phone technology developer Qualcomm Corp (NasdaqNM:QCOM - news) said it had sold its unprofitable handset unit to Kyocera. 0451 GMT - Hikari Tsushin Inc up by 20,000 yen or 11.49 percent at 194,000, exceeding a previous lifetime high of 184,000, after Liquid Audio Japan , in which Hikari Tsushin holds a 10 percent stake, was first traded at 6.1 million yen in the morning session on the new Mothers market. The level compares with its initial public offering price of three million yen. Hikari Tsushin is Japan's largest mobile phone subscription agency. 0419 GMT - Softbank Corp up by its daily limit of 5,000 yen or 6.87 percent at 77,800 after the major Internet investor said it will hold a news conference at 4:00 p.m. (0700 GMT) on the establishment of Nasdaq Japan. Softbank said in November it hoped to launch the sister version of the U.S. Nasdaq market as early as next June with the National Association of Securities Dealers, the operator of the technology-intensive market. 0335 GMT - Advantest Corp up 1,380 yen or 6.16 percent at 23,770 and Toshiba Corp up 14 yen or 1.81 percent at 787 after announcing they would hold a joint news conference at 0600 GMT. 0121 GMT - Sharp Corp up 170 yen or 7.33 percent at 2,490, surpassing a previous lifetime high of 2,400. Investors were attracted to the major electronics manufacturer in light of brisk demand for liquid crystal displays and flash memories -- Sharp's specialities, analysts said. 0033 GMT - Liquid Audio Japan trading at 6.12 million yen after first changing hands on the TSE's new Mothers market for venture firms at 6.1 million yen, up from its initial public offer (IPO) price of 3.0 million. Shares in the affiliate of U.S. Internet music company Liquid Audio Inc (NasdaqNM:LQID - news) ended bid-only at 6.0 million yen on Wednesday, when they debuted on the new market for small companies with strong growth potential. 0030 GMT - Kyocera Corp bid-only at 18,750 against Wednesday's close at 17,350.
