Look, this is simple. Users flocked away from Word Perfect many years ago because Microsoft's product was better. The Microsoft product was integrated a long time ago, they did not start with 80' products from three different vendors. Furthermore, they have an unfair advantage insofar as they make the underlying OS for these applications. Does anyone think they put features in the OS when they have the option of putting it in, say, Microsoft Office instead? Can anyone think of a single application that simply could not use a spelling checker? Did Microsoft put that in Windows so we could use it without having Microsoft Office installed? No, but they added the browser! You see, they are very clever.

So don't give us that crap about Corel's old hand-me-down bloatware being mysteriously better. Instead, think about the core developers at Corel botching the Java product and the Network Computer. Then tell me that the limited add-on work they have done since inheriting Word Perfect is somehow better than Microsoft.

I'm using Star which I have on one CD for both Linux and Windows -- and Solaris if I need it. Sun's Star is a way better option for those looking for a company with the resouces and commitment to support them. Forget piddly little Corel and their on-again-off-again revenue drip.
