Steve, your take on the much heralded potential of Mr. Richard Li and Hong Kong based Pacific Century CyberWorks (PCCLF). Hyped to be the next CMGI or Softbank. Intel made a 50M investment in the company recently. Merrill Lynch initiated a buy on the company. Looking at their web site, pcg-group.com , the company hopes to be able to chew the huge bite that they propose to take out of the Asia broadband market...is a large portion of that bite fluff?

Your thoughts appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Steve,

How about an update on Novell? The stock just broke out to an all time high this week after a long ride through the dumps. Do you think their sales and profits will do likewise in the internet caching and directory business?

Any other growth areas they have a chance to extend into from their installed base of 50 million seats?

Thanks,

Brian

Steve,

I would like to get your opinion on Metricom (MCOM), a wireless mobile internet service provider. It was the 2nd highest tech gainer for 1999 after QCOM.

Steve, Thank you for your response.

I think there is a difference between B2B and B2C:

For B2C, name brand, advertisement matters. Also If you are the first one in that biz, your change to success is much higher.

However for B2B, The company relationship and politics are the key. Also fortune 500 corps will determine the whole B2B market.

I think once Y2K problem is over, IBM/GE/AT&T/EDS will try to catch up. (MSFT may be another one, MSFT and IBM are two biggest XML players) The real battle will be between them. I agree with you that IBM has the best change to win. What I disagree with you is that once these big guys jump in, CMRC and ARBA will be out of the B2B game. the only question is when this will happen.

Have a wonderful new year.
