Since you volunteer in your district, do you happen to know if funding levels are sufficient locally to enact this (private) program? edisonschools.com I don't have personal knowledge of these Edison schools, however I saw them on 60 minutes recently. The school year is all year and the teachers get stock options. They take over a school district's curriculum with their standardized program - it seems like for some really troubled districts like Oakland this would be a HUGE improvement. The problem is I don't know how much it costs... Ca is 49th in funding per student nationwide I think.
