gimp, Although I tried it several times, I could never figure out how to do anything with gimp. I think gimp may be more a create art tool and not a photo processing tool. Usually an application that has to have it's own book written for it is well, simple, like sendmail for example. But I think the book on gimp is twice as thick as the sendmail book.

xv is also from the dawn of shareware like fvwm. Thus is clean, lean, mean, with recursive ergonomic design.

Try rotating a picture 90 with gimp and with xv. Then try 20.
