December 28, 1999 (SEOUL) -- Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. has began sales of
CD-RW drives that can read digital video disks and record data on compact disks.

A Samsung official said the new product, called the SM-304, "dissolves the disparity"
of digital video disks and compact disks in terms of data recording and writing.

It retails at about 500,000 won. The global market for the product is expected to
expand to 5 million units by 2000 and 40 million units by 2003, the company said.
