The chapter on eating human flesh in "Strange Food" begins with an anecdote about the author, his wife, and their friends eating the placenta after his wife gave birth to his first daughter, back in 1972. I remember feeling queasy when I first heard of the practice, but my sense of nausea has intensified over the years. In fact, I am making myself quite ill. Why am I even telling you this? Oh, I know, I was wondering whether vegetarians can eat their own placenta, and decided that vegetarians can (no animal was killed) but vegans can't (they don't eat any animal products, not even egg or dairy). So Gaugie (or MJ)can't make soup with Gaugie's femur head. I really am feeling quite queasy.

Well, there is a chapter on durian. The author says that Singapore Airlines won't allow durian fruit to be brought on one of their airplanes. He says you can smell a durian fruit stand at least two blocks away. It doesn't smell as bad as it is reputed to smell or taste as good as it is reputed to taste, except when it is completely ripe, and then he agrees with Singapore Airlines. You can, apparently, buy it vacuum-packed in plastic.

No one would ever leave you out! Maybe he was concerned for your obviously delicate nature, as evidenced by your EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW over picked bones. It is nice to read that all went well with the operation, and that the powers that be in the operating room relented and let him take the bone home.

Have fun at the Stars game! I agree with jp - basic black is the thing to wear.
